Pass The Chip

"Pass The Chip" is the name of a golf game that bites the member of your group who, at the end of the round, has the most recent 3-putt.

The golfer who 3-putts last in Pass The Chip is the one who owes the other members of the group a beer/drink at the end of the round.

"Playing Pass The Chip"

Pass The Chip is all about 3-putt avoidance - but if you do 3-putt, make sure you aren't the last member of your group to do it.

The basics of Pass The Chip are simple:

  • Your group members agree on how much the bet is worth before the round—for example, one drink or the entire tab.
  • The first golfer who 3-putts owns the Chip. They hold it until someone else 3-putts.
  • Once a different golfer 3-putts, the Chip passes to that golfer. And this passing of the Chip continues every time someone else 3-putts.
  • At the end of the round, the golfer left holding the Chip - the last golfer who 3-putted - owes each of the other three golfers beer/drinks.

Please keep it simple. A 3 putt is whenever a player uses a putter, even off the green. If two or more players 3-putt on the same hole, the Chip goes to the player that 3-putt from the shortest distance.
